1. Narrative writing
The students will complete a journal entry telling about a memorable experience that they have had with weather. The students will be instructed to include details of the event. They will be required to write at least 5 sentences.
2. Expository writing
The students will create an acrostic by choosing a weather word from the book that the teacher will specify. The students will use each letter of the word to describe that type of weather. The students may either write one word or one sentence.
3. Persuasive writing
For the persuasive piece, the students will complete a RAFT. The role of each student will be the role of a person in the town that a storm is about to hit. The audience will be the approaching storm of the students’ choice. The format will be in the form of a letter. The topic will be severe weather. The strong verb will be to persuade the storm to not be severe because a severe storm could really cause damage to the town.
